KARACHI: The governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, made an announcement that free plots will be given to the Gul Plaza tragedy victims.

At the ceremony, which honored the affected families at the Governor’s House, Tessori pointed out the problems with how officials allocated tax revenue, which had been collected from Karachi.

He explained that the city receives minimal advantages from its substantial fund collections because emergency responders lack proper resources to manage their duties.

Tessori stated that the Prime Minister and Chief Minister should grant Karachi the authority to control its own affairs. The Governor’s House will assume control of operations when both federal and provincial governments fail to execute their designated responsibilities, he stated.

He described the Gul Plaza disaster, which resulted in families receiving only small ashes of their loved ones because the city suffered from complete abandonment.

He warned that while assigning monetary value to human life has lost meaning, effective measures to prevent such disasters are urgently needed, yet the administration remains silent.

Tessori described how Karachi spends less than 5% of its tax revenue to show financial neglect, while he demanded immediate solutions to assist victims.

He identified the responsible authorities, which included UC Nazims, the Mayor of Karachi, and relevant government departments. Tessori explained that he contacted builders to obtain free plots for victims, while he insisted that justice must be achieved for the deceased, and citizens should maintain their right to express their opinions.
