TOKEN2049 conference in Dubai hit by weather outburst [Video]

Pak embassy in UAE establishes helpline after catastrophic rains

The renowned crypto conference TOKEN2049 in Dubai has encountered significant disruptions due to heavy rainfall which has caused massive flooding in and around the venue, Crypto Times reported.

People interested in cryptocurrency get together for the TOKEN2049 worldwide conference series to exchange ideas, connect, and help build the industry. The event was slated to end on April 21.

Even with a stellar speaker lineup that included Dovey Wan, Vitalik Buterin, and Peter McCormack, participants are still coping with the fallout from the extreme weather.

The National Centre of Meteorology has issued alerts stating that the “hazardous weather events” are expected to last until Wednesday. Participants in the flooded event have uploaded photos and videos on the internet.

One user wrote, “The event got liquidated.”

When the event’s organizers asked participants to respond to an online survey about their travel preferences, almost 40% of respondents said they would take a boat.

The organizers have promised guests that the main events, which are set for April 18–19, will take place in dry and sunny circumstances, despite the intense rain and flooding.

Massive flash floods caused by a year’s worth of heavy rains in Dubai have turned roadways into rivers and disrupted daily life. In 2022, Dubai saw flash floods that led to the evacuation of 3,000 homes and the deaths of seven migrant laborers.
