KARACHI: The famous morning show host Nida Yasir has apologized to all the food delivery riders after her derogatory remarks caused a stir all over social media.
Nida Yasir, through a video message on her Instagram, said that she had shared her personal experience in her previous show, which was a bad one. She said her mistake was in the choice of words; sometimes such a thing does happen in casual conversation.
She said it was her live show, not a recorded segment. She said the clarification ought to have come from her, sharing her negative experience about a rider; that is, not all people are that way, and she did not mean the whole community of riders. “That was never my intention,” she added.
She went on to say that she should have added this explanation because “not all fingers are equal.” Many riders are honest and struggle hard to make a living, and she did not want to hurt anyone.
She also said, “I am human, not an angel. Sometimes, due to the choice of words, what’s in the heart comes out differently. If my dear rider brothers watching me were hurt by my words, I sincerely apologize.”
It is pertinent to mention here that the actress, Nida Yasir, in her show, mentioned that some riders deliberately keep small change so that they may force customers to give extra tips, causing them much inconvenience. She also said that when these riders have to wait for this sake, delaying their next deliveries, then they start to realize it, but the habit has now become common among many riders.
Her comments sparked a strong reaction on social media, as users felt she was insensitive to the working class. Comments such as giving 50 or 100 rupees as a tip are not a big deal, while others said that they never faced such issues when shopping from big brands.
