LHC partially suspends damages order in Ali Zafar case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has suspended the decision to pay Rs 5 million in damages to singer Ali Zafar on the appeal of singer Meesha Shafi.

Justice Ahmed Nadeem Arshad of the Lahore High Court heard Meesha Shafi’s appeal against the Rs 5 million damages decision.

During the hearing, the court suspended the decision to pay the damages to Ali Zafar and directed Meesha Shafi to deposit half of the damages in cash in the court.

The court has directed that the remaining half of the damages be deposited in the court.

The court issued a notice to Ali Zafar on Meesha Shafi’s appeal and also sought a response.

On the other hand, the court rejected the request of Meesha Shafi’s lawyer to suspend the entire decision of the trial court.

The court said that the trial court in its decision has prevented Meesha Shafi from making sexual harassment allegations again, this decision of the trial court cannot be suspended, no one can be allowed to make sexual harassment allegations.

It should be remembered that the Sessions Court Lahore, while pronouncing the verdict in the defamation case of singer Ali Zafar against Meesha Shafi, had ordered singer Meesha Shafi to pay Rs 5 million in damages.

Ali Zafar had filed a claim of Rs 100 crore in damages against Meesha Shafi for making sexual harassment allegations.
