KARACHI: Vivo has quietly expanded its S-series lineup with the launch of the Vivo S50t, a new variant that brings only a subtle change compared to its predecessor, the Vivo S50.
At first glance, the new model appears almost identical to the S50, and in most aspects, it remains unchanged. The only key difference lies in storage technology, as the S50t uses UFS 3.1 instead of the faster UFS 4.1 found in the S50. While slightly slower, the older standard helps reduce overall cost, making the device more affordable.
The rest of the hardware stays the same. The smartphone features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260×2750 and a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a smooth and vibrant viewing experience. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, while storage is fixed at 512GB.
Camera capabilities remain consistent with the S50 series. The device includes a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom with OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, users get a high-resolution 50MP selfie camera.
Battery performance is another strong point, with the S50t packing a 6,500mAh battery supported by 90W fast wired charging, matching the capabilities of its sibling.
In terms of pricing, the S50t is positioned slightly below the S50. The base variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at CNY 3,199 (around $468), while the 16GB RAM version costs CNY 3,499 (approximately $512), making it about CNY 100 cheaper than the standard S50.
Overall, the Vivo S50t delivers nearly the same flagship-like experience as the S50, with a minor trade-off in storage speed in exchange for a more competitive price point.
