NCCIA summons parties in harassment and threat allegations involving actress Momina Iqbal

LAHORE: The case relating to alleged threats and online harassment involving Punjab MPA and actress Momina Iqbal has moved forward as the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency summoned the concerned parties for proceedings on the actress’s request.

According to details, the actress had alleged in her application that she had been facing online harassment, cyberbullying, mental pressure and death threats for an extended period and claimed that the matter involved an influential political figure.

In a detailed statement shared through her social media account, Momina Iqbal said she had approached the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency, the Federal Investigation Agency, and the Punjab Police several times regarding the issue, but alleged that no action had been taken.

She further claimed that instead of receiving relief, she and her family continued to face serious threats.

The actress appealed to authorities, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation and provide protection to her family.

According to reports, she also tagged senior officials, government institutions, and media organisations in her public appeal.

In a subsequent statement, Momina thanked the chief minister for the action taken by the cybercrime authorities and requested that no individual be named or accused publicly before her official statement is recorded.

Meanwhile, a separate case regarding alleged threats against unidentified persons has also been registered in the concerned MPA’s native district on a complaint filed by a relative.

The matter remains under review, and no official findings have been announced so far.
