The Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier has reportedly moved away from the battlefield, according to claims made by Iran’s parliament speaker. The statement comes during the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier withdrew after the first wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks.
Speaking in Tehran, Ghalibaf said the US naval carrier could not withstand the initial attacks carried out by Iranian forces. He claimed the fleet that was expected to defend US allies failed to protect itself.
He also warned US allies not to rely on what he described as “false assurances” from former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel has now entered its seventh day. The situation in the region remains tense as both sides continue military operations.
According to Iranian reports, the number of people killed in Iran during the attacks has reached 1,332.
Iranian media reported that a residential area in the city of Shiraz was targeted during US-Israeli strikes. At least 20 people were killed in the attack.
Officials said the strike hit a populated neighborhood, raising concerns about civilian casualties.
The Israeli military said it destroyed six Iranian ballistic missile launchers overnight. Israeli officials also claimed that three advanced Iranian defense systems were destroyed in the latest strikes.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it shot down several drones during the fighting.
According to Iranian officials, an Israeli Heron drone was destroyed in Isfahan. They also claimed to have downed a US MQ-9 drone in Lorestan and a Hermes drone near Tehran.
Independent verification of these claims has not yet been confirmed.
