The chief minister expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and extended condolences to the affected family. She said that such incidents reflect serious failures in civic responsibility and cannot be tolerated in a major metropolitan city like Lahore, where public safety should be a top priority.
CM Orders Compensation and Legal Action
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the incident, Maryam Nawaz announced that Rs10 million in compensation would be provided to the bereaved family. She made it clear that this amount would not come from public funds but would be recovered directly from the contractor responsible for the maintenance work.
The chief minister stressed that negligence leading to loss of human life is unacceptable and must be treated as a serious crime. She directed authorities to initiate immediate legal proceedings against all individuals found responsible, adding that no leniency would be shown in the case.
Officials briefed the meeting that preliminary investigations had identified multiple lapses in safety measures. Three individuals have reportedly been nominated during the initial inquiry, while further investigations are underway to determine institutional failures.
