The commercialization fee on private schools is being planned by the government to improve monitoring of private educational institutions. The aim is to regulate how private schools use their land and buildings.

The decision was discussed in an official meeting led by Special Secretary Schools Muhammad Iqbal. Additional Secretary Dr. Farhan and several private school representatives also attended the meeting.

Private school representatives raised serious concerns about the commercialization fee on private schools. They said this new fee could increase financial pressure on schools and may lead to higher education costs for parents.

School owners explained that building rents already increase by about 10% every year. At the same time, they are allowed to increase tuition fees by only 5%. Because of this gap, they fear they cannot manage the new commercialization fee on private schools without affecting parents.

The Rector of the Unique Group also spoke during the meeting. He requested the government to provide policy relief to private schools. He warned that extra financial burden could impact education quality.

Government officials responded that they will review the concerns of school owners. They said a slab-based system may be introduced for the commercialization fee on private schools. This method could reduce the burden by applying different fee levels.

In another development, officials said a new academic calendar will be issued soon. It will be released after approval from the Chief Minister to help schools prepare for the new academic year.

The government says its goal is to improve regulation while keeping the education system stable.
