Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed officials to improve housing finance access for ordinary citizens. The aim is to ensure low-income groups can benefit from easy housing loans.

The decision came during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House. The session reviewed the performance of the housing ministry and ongoing reforms.

The prime minister said affordable housing projects are a top priority. He stressed the need to involve the private sector and improve public facilities across the country.

Officials shared updates on reforms in the construction sector. Talks are ongoing with the Federal Board of Revenue and provincial governments to standardise taxes.

Draft proposals for mortgage reforms are also under review. These changes aim to improve housing finance access and make home ownership easier.

A public-private partnership plan is being prepared. It will focus on building homes for low-income families across Pakistan.

The government is also planning to establish a real estate regulatory authority. This body will oversee housing and real estate activities to ensure transparency.

Work is underway on a Real Estate Investment Trust. It involves the finance ministry, FBR, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, and provincial departments.

Senior ministers and officials attended the meeting. They agreed to speed up affordable housing projects and strengthen housing finance access for all citizens.
