Indus River Dolphins Survey KP

The Indus River Dolphins Survey KP has confirmed 135 dolphins in the Indus River near Dera Ismail Khan. This survey shows positive progress in protecting this rare species. Officials say the results are important for future conservation planning.

The survey was conducted from February 18 to 24, 2026. It covered the river area from Chashma Barrage to Ramak within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Wildlife experts used modern GIS technology to monitor and record dolphin locations.

Teams also studied habitats, family groups, and movement routes. This helped them understand how dolphins live and move in this river section.

Officials said the new data will help improve protection efforts. It will also support better habitat management and regular monitoring in the future.

Experts believe this increase shows that conservation steps are working. The Indus River Dolphins Survey KP will help authorities make stronger plans to protect this endangered animal.
