Islamabad authorities have extended the M-Tag requirement to all motorcycles in the federal capital. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed that the initiative, already active for cars and other vehicles, will now include motorcycles starting February 20 at 10 am.
Motorcycle owners can obtain M-Tags at 13 designated centers across Islamabad. Applicants must present their vehicle registration documents along with their national identity card. This requirement covers all types of motorcycles, including standard bikes, Bykea motorcycles, heavy bikes, and other categories.
Deputy Commissioner Memon highlighted that over 600,000 vehicles have already received M-Tags. He added that registration for online taxi services and Bykea vehicles is being handled through a separate process.
The official emphasized that the move aims to strengthen city security and ensure safer travel for residents. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with authorities during the M-Tag campaign to make the process smooth and efficient.
Memon reiterated that the phased rollout of M-Tags is part of Islamabad’s broader plan to modernize vehicle tracking and enhance safety measures across the city. Officials believe that including motorcycles in the program will help monitor traffic effectively and reduce security risks.
The government has urged all motorcycle owners to comply with the new regulation promptly. This step is seen as a significant measure to safeguard commuters and support law enforcement efforts in Islamabad.
