The Islamabad street Iftar registration mandatory decision has been announced by the district administration before the start of Ramadan 2026. Officials said all individuals and groups must obtain formal permission before arranging public Iftar meals in the federal capital.
According to the administration spokesperson, the move was taken mainly due to security concerns in Islamabad. Authorities want to ensure public safety and proper management during the busy Iftar hours.
People who wish to organise street Iftar events have been asked to submit applications with complete details. The administration will review each request and identify suitable locations. Officials will also provide necessary facilities, including security support, after approval.
Assistant commissioners have been assigned to inspect proposed sites. They will check safety arrangements and traffic impact before issuing permits. So far, officials confirmed that 18 applications have already been received from different parts of the city, as reported by Geo News.
The administration made it clear that no public Iftar setup will be allowed without registration. Enforcement teams will monitor areas across the capital during Ramadan. Any unapproved setup may be removed to maintain order.
Officials said the main purpose of this measure is to prevent traffic congestion, manage crowds, and avoid security risks. They also urged citizens to cooperate and complete the process early to avoid delays.
Meanwhile, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, Suparco, has predicted that the Ramadan crescent is likely to be visible on February 18. The new moon is expected to be born on February 17 at 5:01pm Pakistan Standard Time.
Sources in the Ministry of Science and Technology indicated that Ramadan may begin on the same day in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia this year, depending on moon sighting confirmation.
Authorities said the registration system is intended to facilitate organisers while ensuring smooth and safe arrangements for everyone during the holy month.
