NDMA Issues Heatwave and Flood Alert in Pakistan from March to September

NDMA heatwave and flood alert

ISLAMABAD – The NDMA heatwave and flood alert has been issued for Pakistan, covering the period from March to September. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned of rising temperatures, potential heatwaves, and flood risks.

Northern areas are considered most vulnerable due to melting glaciers, which may trigger severe floods. Locations like Ahmedabad, Faizabad, Gulmit, and the Ashkoman Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan face significant flood risks.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions including Kumrat have also been identified as flood-prone. The NDMA has directed Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), local rescue teams, and district administrations to prepare emergency plans and maintain active warning systems.

The authority urged residents to follow instructions from local officials, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain cautious during this high-risk period. Public cooperation is vital to minimize casualties and property damage.
