Pakistan on Thursday summoned the Afghan deputy head of mission over the Bajaur attack that killed 11 Pakistani soldiers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong demarche, urging immediate action against the attackers.

The assault involved a suicide car bomb followed by gunfire targeting a post of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement. Authorities blamed the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to by officials as Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK).

According to the Foreign Office, spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed deep concern over TTP leaders operating from Afghan territory. Pakistan has received assurances from the Afghan Taliban, but officials say no tangible action has been taken to stop these attacks.

Islamabad has warned the Afghan interim government to take “immediate, concrete, and verifiable measures” against all terrorist groups on its soil. The statement also stressed that Pakistan reserves the right to act against TTP elements wherever they operate to protect soldiers, civilians, and national territory.

The Bajaur incident has further strained ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reiterated that Pakistan will not hesitate to conduct additional airstrikes if Kabul fails to act against terrorists within its borders.

Pakistan continues to raise concerns on international platforms, including the United Nations Security Council, highlighting how terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan threaten regional security.
