The announcement comes while Phase 1 is still in progress. Earlier, authorities set a target to distribute 100,000 laptops in the first phase. That process continues across the Punjab province. Meanwhile, the government of Punjab launched Phase 2 to ensure more eligible students benefit without waiting for the first round to finish.

Punjab government officials expect the scheme to distribute a total of 160,000 laptops. Officials says the initiative aims to improve access to modern technology for students. As a result, students can manage academic tasks more easily, conduct research, and participate in digital learning.

Students are continuing to apply through the Higher Education Department (HED) portal, which remains open for registrations. Punjab Government authorities have advised to applicants to complete the process on time. At the same time, officials are reviewing submissions to maintain fairness and transparency.

The government believes that providing laptops will strengthen educational outcomes across Punjab. Education experts also note that technology plays a key role in modern classrooms, making such programs increasingly important.

Officials added that running both phases together shows the administration’s commitment to expanding educational support quickly. However, no final timeline has been shared for completing the entire laptop distribution plan.

The Punjab Laptop Scheme 2026 is part of broader efforts to promote learning opportunities throughout the province. By reducing the technology gap, the government hopes students from diverse backgrounds can compete academically and explore new areas of knowledge.
