Security forces kill five terrorists in Lakki Marwat during an intelligence-based operation conducted on Sunday, according to the military’s media wing.

The operation took place on March 15 after security agencies received reports about the presence of militants in the area.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops quickly moved to the location and engaged the militants during the operation.

After an intense exchange of fire, security forces killed five terrorists belonging to the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij.

Officials said the militants were involved in several attacks in the region.

Security teams also recovered weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists during the operation.

The ISPR said a sanitisation operation is still ongoing in the area to make sure no militants remain hidden.

The military added that the operation is part of Pakistan’s wider counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.

Authorities reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their efforts to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
