Strait of Hormuz closure warning: Iran says world cannot reopen key oil route

Strait of Hormuz closure warning

Strait of Hormuz closure warning has raised global concern after a strong statement from Iran’s senior official.

A member of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, said Iran has the ability to shut down the Strait of Hormuz. He also claimed that even if the whole world joins together, reopening it would not be easy.

He explained that ships take around seven to eight hours to pass through the narrow waterway. This includes entering, turning, crossing the tightest point, and exiting. Because of this, Iran believes it can maintain full control over the route.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important oil shipping lanes in the world. Any disruption here can impact global oil supply and prices.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump addressed his nation and said the United States does not depend on oil from this route. He added that countries needing oil can buy it from the US, while others may still rely on the Strait of Hormuz.

This Strait of Hormuz closure warning comes at a time of rising tensions in the region. Experts say any real action could affect global trade and energy markets.
