Lahore traffic police have launched strict action against one-way and helmet violations across the city. The crackdown targets motorcyclists without helmets, vehicles driving the wrong way, and vehicles with missing or non-standard number plates.
According to Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed, special check points and roadblocks were set up at multiple locations in Lahore over the last 12 hours. These measures aim to enforce traffic laws and improve road safety.
During the operation, authorities impounded 363 vehicles for major traffic violations. Motorcyclists riding without helmets were the largest group fined, with 1,946 challans issued.
Additionally, 665 vehicles were ticketed for one-way violations, and 299 were fined for breaking lane discipline rules. Officials also penalized 298 vehicles for non-standard or missing number plates.
Dr. Waheed urged residents to follow traffic laws carefully. He specifically advised motorcyclists to wear helmets at all times and reminded vehicle owners to display approved number plates. He warned that authorities will continue strict enforcement to ensure the safety of all road users.
The traffic police crackdown highlights the city’s ongoing efforts to reduce accidents and strengthen road discipline in Lahore. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate and avoid violations to prevent penalties.
