YouTube Update: 50,000+ Subscriber Influencers Must Pay Taxes in Pakistan

YouTube content creators can now create AI avatars of themselves to use in videos

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new YouTube Update for Pakistan’s social media creators. Influencers and YouTubers with 50,000+ subscribers are now required to pay taxes on their income.

Draft rules under S.R.O. 546(I)/2026 and S.R.O. 545(I)/2026 state that both local and foreign creators earning from Pakistani audiences must declare their earnings. Taxable income will be calculated after allowing 30 percent expenses.

FBR has set a benchmark rate of Rs. 195 per 1,000 YouTube views, which may be adjusted over time. Advance tax payments will be made quarterly, and income must be reported in a dedicated section of the annual tax return.

Foreign creators with over 50,000 annual users or 12,250 quarterly users from Pakistan will also be taxed. This YouTube Update strengthens government oversight on digital earnings and ensures fair taxation for social media creators.
