QUETTA: The price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has increased by Rs20, reaching Rs2,700 from the previous rate of Rs2,680, adding further pressure on household budgets already affected by rising living costs.
According to market sources, the latest increase may appear small, but it comes after a series of price hikes over recent months. In May, a 20kg flour bag was available for around Rs2,500, meaning the commodity has become Rs200 more expensive within a short period.
Traders said transportation costs, fluctuations in wheat prices, and other market factors have contributed to the recent increase. They warned that if production and supply costs continue to rise, flour prices could face further pressure in the coming weeks.
Economic observers noted that the increase from Rs2,500 in May to Rs2,700 now represents an overall rise of Rs200 per bag, reflecting the broader inflationary trend affecting essential food commodities.
