ISLAMABAD: 670 people have died due to the recent monsoon rains across the country, Chairman NDMA Inam Haider said while addressing a media briefing along with Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, DG ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Shareef.
Search and rescue teams are busy with the operations, and they are also looking for those who were swept away in the floods.
In the briefing, DG ISPR said that the road infrastructure in KP was badly affected, two engineer battalions are deployed in KP and two in Gilgit, while more than 6,000 injured have been provided treatment in the medical camp so far.
He said that on the instructions of Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, additional units were mobilized, 3 medical units are deployed in Gilgit and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while more than 6,000 injured have been treated in the medical units established by the medical unit so far.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that currently, there are two battalions in Buner, medical units are active in Buner, Shangla, treatment is being provided to the injured, in addition to the medical battalion, teams have also been sent from CMH Rawalpindi.
The DG ISPR said that ninety roads were destroyed in KP, several bridges were constructed, roads have been opened, rations are being delivered to the victims by road and by helicopter, and one day’s rations for the army have also been allocated on the instructions of the Army Chief.
