70 injuries reported due to air firing in Karachi on Independence Day

Firing incident at Islamabad courthouse leaves one dead, one injured

KARACHI: On Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, sources reported that aerial firing in several areas of Karachi resulted in 70 people, including women and children, being injured.

Rescue officials have arrested 13 suspects, including a police officer, involved in the aerial firing that began at midnight.

The suspects, identified as ASI Danial, Muhammad Wajid, Abdullah, Anas, Bilal Raza, Abdul Rahman, Haris, Shahzeb, and Muhammad, were apprehended in operations conducted by the District Kiamari, City, and East Police.

Police departments in major cities have increased security in crowded places, a ban has been implemented on one-wheeling, and anyone caught doing so will be charged a heavy-duty fine approved by the authorities.

Security personnel are trying their best to maintain peace, securing citizens on this special day of independence.

Pakistan is celebrating its 77th Independence Day with a renewed commitment to advancing the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and establishing the country as a true Islamic welfare state.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute at provincial headquarters. Special prayers were offered in mosques for the peace, solidarity, and prosperity of the country.
