AJK Assembly to hold no-confidence vote against PM Anwarul Haq today

AJK Assembly to hold no-confidence vote against PM Anwarul Haq today

MUZAFFARABAAD: The vote on the no-confidence motion against Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq will be held today.

The AJK Assembly has issued the session’s agenda, including the vote of no confidence.

The PPP has claimed the support of more than 35 votes for Faisal Rathore’s prime ministerial candidacy.

If the no-confidence motion is successful, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore of the Pakistan Peoples Party will be elected as the sixteenth Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and the fourth Prime Minister of the current assembly.

The assembly will meet in Muzaffarabad today at 3 pm to vote on the no-confidence motion. Sources say that a simple majority of 27 votes is required for a no-confidence motion.

Earlier, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Friday nominated the party’s regional General Secretary Faisal Mumtaz Rathore for Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The announcement came shortly after sources said that PPP has decided to move a no-confidence motion against the current PM, Anwarul Haq, in the Legislative Assembly today and has instructed the members to reach Muzaffarabad immediately.

The party’s central leader, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, made the official announcement during a press conference in Islamabad, alongside PPP Azad Kashmir President Chuadhry Yasin.

Talking to reporters, Pervaiz Ashraf said that his party has a majority in the AJK assembly and doesn’t need anyone. “PPP will fulfill the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, and stability will come to the region,” he said.

Announcing that PPP will bring a no-confidence motion against the PM Haq today, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that Faisal Mumtaz Rahtore will be the Leader of the House.
