AJK Assembly yet to begin Budget Session as Rs286 Billion Budget set to be presented

Budget 2026-27: What things will get cheaper?

MUZAFFARABAD: The budget session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly had not commenced at the scheduled time on Monday.

During the session, Finance Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed is expected to present the annual budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 before the House.

The proposed budget has been prepared with a total outlay of approximately Rs286 billion, representing an increase of Rs24 billion compared to the revised budget of Rs262 billion for the current fiscal year.

According to budget documents, Rs250 billion has been proposed for non-development expenditures, while Rs36 billion has been allocated for the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

At the beginning of fiscal year 2025–26, the AJK government had approved a budget of Rs310 billion. However, following a mid-year review, the budget size was revised downward to Rs262 billion.
