Akhtar Mengal offloaded from Dubai-bound flight: Here’s why!

Akhtar Mengal’s NA resignation accepted after 17 months

QUETTA: Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal was barred from leaving the country after being deboarded from a flight to Dubai at Quetta airport on Sunday.

According to airport sources, his name was put on the Temporary National Identity List (PNIL), which prevented him from leaving the country.

In a post on X, Akhtar Mengal confirmed the incident and said: “I was going from Quetta to Dubai and I was deboarded. The immigration staff told me that my name has been put on the PNIL.”

He also remarked that the last time his name appeared on such a list was during the Musharraf era, adding that he mentioned it “for context and comparison.”

The reason for his joining the PNIL has not been officially disclosed yet.

Earlier, Akhtar Mengal announced in a press conference that his party would end its 20-day-long protest sit-in in Lak Pass area of Mastung district.

He said that his party would launch a mass movement at the grassroots level after ending the sit-in.

A rally and long march were held from Wadh to Quetta under the leadership of Akhtar Mengal against the arrests of Baloch Unity Committee leaders and the police crackdown on sit-ins.
