Asif Ali Zadari takes oath President of Pakistan

PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari took oath as the 14th President of Pakistan on Sunday in a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faiz Isa administered the oath of office to Asif Ali Zardari in the swearing-in ceremony held at the President’s House in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Bilawal Bhutto, Bakhtawar Bhutto, and Asifa Bhutto Zardari attended the ceremony.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza also attended the event.

Asif Ali Zardari won a second term as president defeating PTI-backed SIC candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai with a resounding majority.

Zardari received 411 electoral votes while his opponent Mahmood Khan Achakzai managed to get 181 votes.
