QUETTA: The Balochistan Government has declared winter holidays for schools located in the province’s coldest regions.
The notification states that these areas’ schools, colleges, and universities will be closed for 76 days, from December 16 to February 29.
According to a special announcement made by the Education Department, teachers and students in 18 districts—including the capital Quetta—will have an extended break until February 29. The purpose of the yearly winter vacation is to give educators and students a much-needed break so they can get ready for the next round of academic challenges.
This comprehensive decision, which was conveyed by the secretaries of secondary and higher education, demonstrates the government’s dedication to putting students’ welfare first and fostering the best possible learning environment.
However, since nighttime lows are currently below zero in the majority of northern Balochistan, these regions continue to experience exceptionally cold weather.
Rain is expected to start today in several areas of Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, according to the weather service.

Due to the severe weather, schools and other educational institutions will be closed for the winter, particularly in areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa where temperatures are below freezing.
The provincial government is also closing schools to ensure the safety of both students and staff, given the numerous hardships that these least developed regions’ residents face.
