Bilawal Bhutto Zardari nomianted as PPP’s parliamentary leader

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari nomianted PPP parliamentary leader

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has unanimously nominated party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the joint parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) on Friday.

The decision was taken on the proposal of the party MNA and First Lady Asifa Bhutto during the parliamentarian party meeting at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

The meeting came amid the 26th conditional amendment saga, where the ruling coalition is making every effort to build consensus among all political parties including the opposition on the constitutional package.

Bilawal told meeting participants, “This will be the last weekend you’ll have to spend on the constitutional package,” adding that “a consensus was reached on the constitutional amendment between the PPP, the JUI-F, and the PML-N”.

During the joint meeting, former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy, which occurred on October 18, 2007, where at least 180 party workers laid down their lives.

Earlier, talking to the journalists outside the Parliament House, senior PP leader Khursheed Shah confirmed that his party had nominated Bilawal Bhutto as the parliamentary leader.

Under the constitution, the parliamentary leader has the authority to compel members to vote on constitutional amendments, finance bills, and the election of the prime minister or speaker as per the party policy.
