CDA announces deadline for key projects in Islamabad

CDA reclaims 42 kanals in anti-encroachment drive around Diplomatic Enclave

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mohammad Ali Randhawa has directed the officials to complete all mega development projects before the upcoming SCO summit and other international conferences in Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by Randhawa, who presided over it, alongside Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and other relevant officers.

The meeting was briefed about the mega projects aimed at upgrading the arrangements for the SCO summit, a CDA statement said. The officials informed that the RFP for various projects is in its final stages.

For the first phase, internationally and nationally reputed consultants will be hired by the authority. For this purpose, work is underway on the preparation of PC-1 and PC-2 documentation and an EIA for all projects.

Randhawa said the mega projects were being executed in line with a vision to develop Islamabad as a world-class, modern city. He urged the officials to complete the projects before the SCO summit and called for a fully open and transparent competitive process at all junctures of procedures in the projects.

He directed that the PC-1 approvals and tendering processes for all mega projects should be expedited for formal commencement next year. Randhawa emphasized that once the projects were accomplished, the city of Islamabad would become a hub for international and national events, tourism, and diplomatic functions.
