ISLAMABAD: United States Central Command’s (CENTCOM) magazine, Unipath, has praised Chief of Amry Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir’s approach to military diplomacy and described him as a forceful voice against violent extremists.
The article published in the quarterly magazine commemorated Gen Asim Munir “as a leader whose foremost commitment resides in the security, stability, and prosperity of Pakistan.”
The magazine asserted that Gen. Munir, since he assumed command in November 2022, has charted a course that has spanned from resolute military actions against extremist outfits to astute military diplomacy.
The Centcom magazine highlighted Army Chief Asim Munir’s leadership, military background, and counterterrorism efforts including decisive action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). “Under his leadership, through July 2024, 22,409 intelligence-based operations have been conducted against terrorists and their facilitators. They eliminated 398 terrorists, including 31 high-value targets,” the article wrote.
Appreciating the military diplomacy of Pakistan’s Army Chief, the article applauded stronger military and diplomatic relations with countries like the United States and conducting joint military exercises with several other countries.
The military magazine also appraised COAS’s stance regarding the challenges being posed by fifth-generation warfare. It also wrote about Gen Munir’s resolve to address the complex blend of conventional and unconventional tactics aimed at the implosion of societal structures.
Regarding socioeconomic efforts, the article highlighted that Gen Munir has fully supported the government in the functioning of the Special Investment Facilitation Council and the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) to attract foreign investment and ensure food security.
The quarterly also commended the Army Chief’s leadership, under which Pakistan conducted the operation, codenamed Marg Bar Sarmachar, after Iran carried missile and drone strikes within Pakistan’s Balochistan province on January 16, 2024, resulting in the deaths of two innocent children
The article also commended the Army Chief’s steps for interfaith harmony, greater tolerance, and the protection of minorities as he always condemned the incidents of intolerance including the Jaranwala incident
