Pakistan restores passports & ID cards of attackers on Justice Qazi Faez Isa

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has categorically denied any intention of accepting an extension in his tenure, putting an end to speculation surrounding his retirement.

In a clear and firm response to a journalist’s question, Justice Isa stated, “If they offer an extension, I will not take it.”

Justice Isa also addressed a claim made by Advisor to the PM for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah, stating that he had never met or spoken to Sanaullah.

Moreover, he revealed that he had discussed the matter of an extension with Azam Nazeer Tarar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and the Attorney General, and had refused the suggestion.

The Chief Justice emphasized that he would not accept an extension, even if others were willing to do so. He added, “I don’t even know if I will be alive tomorrow.”

Regarding the matter of the six judges’ letter, Justice Isa explained that the committee responsible for scheduling cases had not yet taken up the matter. He clarified that the bench could not be formed earlier due to Justice Musarrat Hilali’s health issues.

In a conversation with the law minister, Justice Isa was informed that extensions were being given to all Chief Justices. However, he remained resolute in his decision not to accept an extension.
