Child dies after falling into open manhole in Lahore

LAHORE: Police in Lahore have filed a case against the management of Atomic Energy Society Maraka and A&H Construction after a five-year-old boy died from falling into an open manhole.

The incident happened on Tuesday in the Sundar area while the child, Hassan Aamir, was playing in a street near his home. His father, Amir Jamil, filed the complaint that led police to register the case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and managed to pull the boy out, but they were unable to revive him. The police then took custody of the body to complete the necessary legal paperwork before returning him to his family.

Officials mentioned that they would proceed with further legal action based on the family’s formal complaint. This tragedy has once again brought attention to the danger of uncovered manholes in residential areas and the ongoing risk they pose to the public, especially to young children.
