ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued a bold challenge to the state, declaring that he will quit politics if his government can be toppled through constitutional means.

His statement came during a joint press conference with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja and other party leaders after the parliamentary party meeting.

Speaking to the media, Gandapur said that a state is like a mother, this state is acting like a pharaoh, I challenge the entire system and its institutions. He accused the establishment of conspiring against his government using unconstitutional means, but claimed that all efforts had failed.

“You have tried martial law and governor’s rule in the past. Now, I challenge your authority – put all our people in jails, use every power you have, and try to topple the KP government.”

Gandapur insisted that the PTI is united under the leadership of Imran Khan and no one has the power to break their ranks.

He said that this press conference is a message to those who think that we are divided. We are ready to sacrifice everything for the release of our party founder, adding that the conspiracy against Imran Khan had started before the May 9 incidents.

He termed the 26th Constitutional Amendment as an attack on the judiciary and said that the uproar will continue until the amendment is withdrawn by the PTI returning to power.

Gandapur also claimed that he had denied Imran Khan a meeting despite his rightful claim as the party chief.

Substantiating his stand, the KP CM said that all powers are with Imran Khan, and no constitutional means can topple his government. “My challenge stands: do not attempt unconstitutional tactics – and even if you do, you will fail,” he concluded.
