CM Punjab launches distribution of interest-free bikes among students: Details inside

LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has started the distribution of motorcycles among students under the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme 2024.

The Chief Minister handed over the keys of 16 e-bikes to eligible students in a ceremony attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb and other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that this is the first phase, in the next phase, the number of motorcycles will be increased. She said that motorcycles are being given to students in installments at zero percent markup.

She said that the Punjab government has fulfilled the promise of providing motorcycles to the students in four months, the distribution of laptops will also be started soon.

The chief minister said that the battery of e-bikes would also be insured, adding that charging points would be set up in universities for the convenience of students.

Under the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative, the government will provide 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 e-bikes through Bank of Punjab on interest-free installments. The provincial government will provide a subsidy of one billion rupees for interest-free motorcycles.

Degree college and university students are eligible to apply for an interest-free bike.

In the first phase 1 of the scheme, motorcycles will be given to the regular students of Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi and Lahore.

A total of 72640 applications were received by the government for this programme. Out of which 57,366 students have submitted applications for petrol motorcycles and 15,274 for e-bikes.
