Crackdown On Price Gouging: ICT arrests vendors on charging more

Punjab CM Maryam directs strict action against price hike during Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: Irfan Nawaz Memon, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, has instructed the Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates to step up their efforts to rein in the excessive price of bread, fruits, and vegetables in the Federal Capital.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration officials discovered numerous vendors and store owners breaking government regulations during the examination.

According to a spokesperson for the ICT Administration, anyone who disregarded the published prices faced immediate legal action.

Additionally, Assistant Commissioner City Farhan Ahmad raided at tandoors of G-6 and G-7 areas and owners of five tanneries were detained for selling ‘naan’ and roti above the regulated prices of Rs16 and 20, respectively. These individuals were transferred to the police station for further legal proceedings.
