Eid-ul-Adha likely to be on Wednesday, May 27

Eid-ul-Adha 2026 likely dates and expected holidays in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: SPARCO has issued an astronomical forecast regarding the expected sighting of the moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH.

According to a spokesperson for SPARCO, the new moon is likely to be seen at 1:15 am on May 17, while the age of the moon is expected to be about 18 hours and 30 minutes by evening on the same day. There will be a gap of about sixty minutes between sunset and moonset in coastal areas, due to which there is a good chance of seeing the moon in clear weather and good visibility.

A spokesperson for SPARCO says that if the chances of sighting remain the same, then the first Dhul-Hijjah is likely to be on Monday, May 18 and the 10th Dhul-Hijjah, i.e. Eid-ul-Adha, is likely to be on Wednesday, May 27.

A spokesperson for Suparco has clarified that the final announcement regarding the sighting of the Zil-Hijjah moon will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which will give its decision based on reliable evidence received from across the country.
