Eidul Fitr 2025: Has Pakistani govt announced 8 holidays for this Eid?

Eidul Fitr 2025: Has Pakistani govt announced 8 holidays for this Eid?

ISLAMABAD: Despite a fake notification circulating on social media, Pakistan has not officially announced Eid ul-Fitr holidays.

The fabricated notice falsely claims that holidays will be observed from March 29 to April 6, 2025. However, no such announcement has been made by the authorities.

It is expected that there will be an extended holiday period for Eid ul-Fitr 2025, starting from March 29 and continuing until April 6, based on moon sightings.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has predicted that the crescent moon will be sighted on March 30, with Eid ul-Fitr falling on March 31.

Traditionally, federal and provincial governments declare three-day holidays on Eid. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 30, the official holidays may extend from March 31 (Monday) to April 2 (Wednesday), including the weekend.
