Electricity cost to drop soon across Pakistan

Power companies continue offering employees up to 1,300 free units monthly

ISLAMABAD: The electricity prices may decrease by 1.75 rupees per unit, according to media reports.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) has submitted an application for the reduction in prices in the fourth quarter adjustment for the fiscal year 2024-25.

The National Electric Regulatory Authority will hear the application today.

The consumer will get a total relief of Rs 53 billion if the application is accepted, and it is applicable for all the distribution companies, including K-Electric.

According to sources, if the NEPRA authority approves the adjustment for September, October, and November, consumers may get relief of up to Rs 2.10 per unit, while a reduction of Rs 1.75 per unit has been proposed for August, September, and October, which will lead to a significant reduction in the monthly electricity bills of consumers.

The final decision on the application will be issued by the NEPRA authority after the hearing on the application is completed.
