ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB) has rejected recent claims made by the Taliban’s so-called Ministry of Defence, calling them false, fabricated, and aimed at misleading the Afghan public.
According to the ministry, the Taliban’s statements about capturing posts and causing significant damage are part of a propaganda campaign. Officials said such claims are designed to influence internal Afghan public opinion, despite the fact that local populations are already suffering due to the activities of militant groups.
The MOIB stated that losses and damages suffered by militant elements, including groups it described as Fitna Al Khawarij, are being regularly documented and updated by the government. It added that video and photographic evidence is shared with the media whenever available to ensure transparency.
Officials emphasized that authorities are exercising caution to provide credible and timely information regarding ongoing targeted operations against terrorist networks and their support infrastructure inside areas under Taliban control.
The ministry also claimed that, apart from amplification by militant networks and segments of Indian media and social media, there has been no credible or verifiable evidence supporting the Taliban’s repeated claims. It said such assertions have consistently proven false when independently fact-checked.
