FCC announces winter vacations as winter grips

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) publicized its winter vacation dates, when it will be closed from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Hearings are set to restart on January 5, 2026.

Based on the official notification, the courts offices will be open throughout the vacation period, and hearings for urgent and previously scheduled cases will proceed.

The Federal Constitutional Court was established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment for the purpose of enhancing Pakistan’s judicial system and the protection of constitutional rights.

The primary duty of the court is to interpret the Constitution and adjudicate constitutional disputes. The Chief Justice is Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan. Other judges are Justices Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Amir Farooq, Ali Baqar Najafi, Karim Khan Agha, Rozi Khan Brech, and Arshad Hussain Shah.

According to the website of the court, Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan viewed the founding of the FCC as important to Pakistan’s constitutional history.

He noted the courts role is to interpret the Constitution in an independent, fair, and integrated manner, advocating for basic rights and providing stability, balance, and justice in state institutions.
