Federal Tobacco Control Cell exposed for incompetent, agenda-based campaign

Federal Tobacco Control Cell exposed

ISLAMABAD: Incompetence among government institutions has been exposed once again as the Federal Ministry of Health’s Tobacco Control Cell is running an inadequate and agenda-based social media campaign.

It has been disclosed that the Federal Tobacco Control Cell has been using images having Indian origin including Indian cricket team uniforms in the social media awareness campaign against smoking.

The social media campaign also features the used images of Indian families dressing in traditional clothes promoting Indian culture. The awareness post also featured an Indian national, named Papiya Sakar, working in the IT industry as a teacher.

The federal government’s Tobacco Control Cell has been illegally using copyrighted stock photos for its official posts, which is inappropriate for government agency.

It sparked a debate about why can’t the Tobacco Control Cell use Pakistani citizens’ photos in the awareness posters.

There should be an inquiry against the concerned authorities for showing the Indian cricket team uniform and Indian culture in gov’t official awareness campaign.

It is pertinent to mention that the government of Pakistan has banned Indian movies in local cinemas, dramas, and censored satellite channels amid a diplomatic rift between both countries. New Delhi has also banned Pakistani artists from working in the Indian film industry along with other content censorship.

Both countries have also seen boycotts of cricket tours following New Delhi’s decision not to visit Pakistan for any bilateral home series.
