GILGIT BALTISTAN: Ballot counting concluded across Gilgit-Baltistan after polling for all 24 seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly concluded at 5 pm on Sunday.
GBA-1 Gilgit-1
According to the unofficial results from one of the 86 polling stations in GBA-1 Gilgit-1, Muhammad Shafiquddin of the Muslim League (N) is leading with 187 votes, while Amjad Hussain of the Pakistan Peoples Party is in second place with 104 votes.
GBA-4 Nagar-1
According to the unofficial results from three of the 53 polling stations in GBA-4 Nagar-1, Muhammad Ayub Waziri of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is leading with 403 votes, while Muhammad Ali Akhtar of the Pakistan Peoples Party is in second place with 232 votes.
GBA-6 Hunza
According to the unofficial results of 3 out of 88 polling stations in GBA-6 Hunza, independent candidate Neknam Karim is in first place with 233 votes, while independent candidate Raja Nazim-ul-Amin is in second place with 179 votes.
GBA-7 Skardu-1
According to the unofficial results of 5 out of 31 polling stations in GBA-7 Skardu-1, Raja Jalal Hussain Khan of the Stability Pakistan Party is ahead with 694 votes, while Syed Tauqir Mehdi of the Pakistan Peoples Party is in second place with 556 votes.
GBA-8 Skardu-2
According to the unofficial results of 1 out of 70 polling stations in GBA-8 Skardu-2, Imtiaz Haider Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) is in first place with 214 votes, while Syed Muhammad Ali Shah of the Pakistan Peoples Party is in second place with 80 votes.
GBA 9 Skardu 3
According to the unofficial results of 1 out of 54 polling stations in GBA 9 Skardu 3, independent candidate Wazir Muhammad Saleem is in first place with 405 votes, while Fida Muhammad Nashad of Pakistan Peoples Party is in second place with 18 votes.
GBA 10 Skardu 4
According to the unofficial results of 3 out of 51 polling stations in GBA 10 Skardu 4, Nasir Ali Khan of Pakistan Peoples Party is in first place with 211 votes, while Mushtaq Hussain of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan is in second place with 148 votes.
GBA 11 Kharmang
According to the unofficial results of 1 out of 51 polling stations in GBA 11 Kharmang, Iqbal Hassan of Pakistan Peoples Party is in first place with 125 votes, while Syed Mohsin Rizvi of Pakistan Muslim League (N) is in second place with 64 votes.
GBA-12 Shigar
According to the unofficial results of 6 out of 71 polling stations in GBA-12 Shigar constituency, Imran Nadeem of Pakistan Peoples Party is in first place with 1115 votes while Tahir Shigari of Pakistan Muslim League (N) is in second place with 480 votes.
GBA-19 Ghizer-1
According to the unofficial results of 6 out of 78 polling stations in GBA-19 Ghizer-1 constituency, independent candidate Nawaz Khan Naji is in first place with 825 votes while Zafar Muhammad of Pakistan Muslim League (N) is in second place with 614 votes.
GB Elections
According to election officials, the polling process remained largely peaceful throughout the day, with no major law and order incidents reported.
However, isolated reports of heated exchanges between supporters of rival political parties near some polling stations were received.
More than 950,000 registered voters were eligible to cast their votes across the region’s 10 districts. Nearly 400 candidates contested the elections, making it one of the most competitive electoral contests in the region.
The elections were originally scheduled for January 2026, but were postponed due to severe winter weather conditions.
The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan established 1,391 polling stations across the territory to facilitate voters. Of these, 551 were declared highly sensitive and 349 sensitive from a security perspective.
To ensure a peaceful electoral process, more than 5,000 security personnel were deployed, including over 3,000 officers and personnel from the Punjab Constabulary, alongside local police and law enforcement agencies.
The Election Commission also granted first-class magistrate powers to District Returning Officers to help maintain order and ensure transparency during polling and vote counting.
Unofficial results are expected to start emerging later in the evening as the counting process progresses across the region.
