ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has created new recruitment and promotion rules for officers in Grade 16 and higher positions, which will improve appointment procedures and create better administrative systems.
The rules will take effect following their approval by the Ministry of Interior. The proposed framework establishes that Grade 17 positions will be filled through candidates who receive approval from the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
The FIA has established four main administrative sections, which include Investigation, Legal, Experts, and Ministerial operations. Employees must serve their entire employment period in the specific group that they first joined.
A new quota system has been established to determine how Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers and FIA departmental officers will share available positions.
In Grade 20 and 21 positions, 70% of posts will be assigned to PSP officers, while 30% will go to departmental officers. The position distribution for Grade 19 requires equal allocation between both groups, while Grades 17 and 18 will allocate 60% to departmental officers.
The draft rules establish a ban on permanent employment for deputation officers who work for the FIA, which helps the organization maintain its structured workforce.
The new regulations help improve recruitment based on merit while they create better administrative operations and provide clearer career paths for FIA staff members.
