LAHORE: The first batch of 27 Palestinian students out of a total of 192 arrived in Lahore on Monday to continue their medical studies on fully funded programs in Pakistan.
“Twenty-seven more Palestinian students from Gaza arrived in Pakistan to continue their education,” the Al-Khidmat Foundation — a charitable organization that facilitated the initiative — said in a press release.
Earlier, the Pakistan Embassy in Cairo said that under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the embassy officials and representatives of the Al-Khidmat Foundation facilitated the departure of Palestinian students from Cairo International Airport for Pakistan to continue their medical and dental studies.
“This batch is part of 192 Palestinian medical students from Gaza who will continue their medical and dental studies in various medical institutes in Pakistan,” the embassy wrote on X.

“The initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with Global Relief Trust, Doctors of Rahman, and Al-Khidmat Foundation,” it added.
Earlier this year in July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Islamabad would provide scholarships to over 100 Palestinian students enabling them to continue their medical studies in Pakistan, as Israel’s war wreaks havoc in the Middle East.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) also permitted the medical and dental students from Gaza to complete their education in Pakistan. The PMDC president said that it is expected that around 100 medical and dental students from Gaza will come to Pakistan.
