FO rejects irresponsible remarks of Indian minister

Pakistan rejects CBS report as misleading, reaffirms role in regional peace efforts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected the irresponsible remarks made by the Indian Foreign Minister during various media engagements in Brussels.

The Foreign Office today said in a statement that the purpose of the high-level diplomats’ discussions should be to promote peace and harmony rather than a ceasefire. The Foreign Minister’s tone should be in keeping with his dignified position.

It said that for the past several years, India has been engaged in a malicious campaign to mislead the international community through a false narrative of victimhood. However, India’s continued hostility towards Pakistan cannot hide its sponsorship of terrorism beyond its borders, nor can it cover up state atrocities in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Instead of pointing fingers at others, India should examine its own involvement in terrorism, sabotage and targeted killings.

The statement said that India should also desist from fabricating misleading narratives to justify its recent aggressive actions. Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy. However, it is resolute in its will and ability to defend its sovereignty against any aggression, as exemplified by its strong response to India’s reckless attacks last month.

The Foreign Office said that the narrative emerging from India after the failed military campaign against Pakistan betrays utter despair. Indian leaders would be advised to improve the quality of their discourse and abandon their obsession with Pakistan.

It said that history will not judge who made the most noise but who acted wisely.
