Former test cricketer Muhammad Ilyas passes away

LAHORE: In tragic news, the former Pakistan Test cricketer and former national selector Muhammad Ilyas passed away in Lahore. He had been suffering from cancer for the past few days and was undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Lahore.

Muhammad Ilyas was a right-handed batsman and played 10 Test matches representing Pakistan from 1964 to 1969, scoring 441 runs. In first-class cricket, he proved his mettle by scoring 4,607 runs in 82 games.

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Muhammad Ilyas. He paid tribute to the services of the deceased for cricket and expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family.

Mohsin Naqvi said in his condolence message that may Allah Almighty rest the soul of the deceased in peace and grant patience to the family.
