BARNALA (Bhimber): Former Chairman of the Zakat and Ushr Department and political and social figure Chaudhry Adalat Khan was shot dead in the Barnala area of Bhimber district on Thursday.
Chaudhry Adalat was also the Chief Organizer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the LA-5 constituency in Barnala.
According to police, Chaudhry Adalat Khan was returning from Barnala Katcheri when unknown armed men opened fire on him near Pingali Mor in the jurisdiction of Moil Police Station. He died on the spot due to multiple bullet injuries.
During the incident, a woman passing nearby was also injured by gunfire and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police reached the scene soon after the incident and cordoned off the area, initiating an investigation and search operation to trace the attackers.
Officials said inquiries into the motive behind the killing are ongoing, while further evidence is being collected from the crime scene.
