ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad on Monday, where he addressed graduating officers of the National Security and War Course comprising participants from all three services.
During his address, the Field Marshal highlighted the evolving nature of modern warfare and emphasized the importance of strategic clarity and institutional professionalism in addressing increasingly complex security challenges.
He praised the role of premier institutions such as the National Defence University in preparing future military and civilian leaders capable of responding effectively to hybrid, conventional and sub-conventional threats with foresight, confidence and determination.
The army chief said that Pakistan’s Armed Forces are continuously recalibrating their employment and development strategies in line with the changing character of warfare to meet emerging security requirements.
Referring to national security challenges, the Field Marshal stated that the Armed Forces remain fully aware of what he described as state-sponsored attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan.
He said that efforts by proxy networks operating under the patronage of hostile intelligence agencies would not be allowed to undermine the country’s internal security or economic progress.
The Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism, stating that terrorist threats originating from across the borders would be dealt with using the full strength of the state.
He added that the Armed Forces, with the support of the nation, would continue efforts to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries and their facilitators.
Addressing the graduating officers, the army chief stressed that military success is achieved through faith, unity and discipline rather than media narratives or political rhetoric.
He expressed confidence in the professionalism, morale and operational readiness of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and urged the officers to uphold the values of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the nation.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the National Defence University, the Field Marshal was received by the President of NDU.
