SKARDU: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has rejected the objections while giving its decision on the petitions related to electoral disputes.
According to the decision issued by Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit Raja Shahbaz, the petition for a recount in GBA-17 Diamer-3 was rejected, and the victory of Muhammad Naseem of the People’s Party in this seat was upheld.
According to the decision, after the objection was rejected in GBA-18 Diamer-4, the victory of Kifayat-ur-Rehman of the Muslim League (N) was upheld, while in GBA-14 Astore-II, the objection was also rejected and the victory of Rana Muhammad Farooq of the (N) League was upheld.
According to the Election Commission, after the objection was rejected in GBA-20 Ghizer-II, the victory of Abdul Jahan of the (N) League was upheld, while in GBA-19 Ghizer-I, the objection was also rejected, and the victory of Syed Jalal Shah of the People’s Party was upheld.
In addition, after the objection was rejected in GBA-15 Diamer I, the victory of independent candidate Dilpazeer remained intact, while in GBA-5 Nagar I, the objection was also rejected and the victory of Zulfiqar Ali Murad of the PPP was upheld.
According to the decision of the Election Commission, the repolling request of independent candidate Imam Malik in GBA-16 Diamer II was rejected; however, the counting of postal ballot papers has been ordered.
